Today, I went to the “State Store” (the only place you can get wine and liquor in PA) for a bottle of scotch.
There was a sign on the door that said, “Closed Indefinitely.” Pennsylvania deems the sale of “spirits” a nonessential business.
Later, I passed the shooting range / gun store. Cars in the parking lot and open for business.
In Pennsylvania, a gun store is an essential business because, well, if you want to kill germs you should forget alcohol and buy a gun.
And that’s the kind of logic and bold decision making that inspires such confidence in our elected officials. Knowing they are willing to make the tough calls, the difficult decisions, that will keep the public safe at all costs without bowing to political pressure.
I, for one, will sleep better tonight.
